Move over  Mr. Blackwell - here comes Pals Paper Arts Best Dressed List for 2010! 

 

As the year draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment and reflect on this past year at Pals Paper Arts.  We are so thankful for the 2,913 participants who played with us over the past year!!  Each design team member selected a favorite design out of the PPA Picks for each month.  Winners will be given a badge to put on their blog.  Enjoy the Best of the Best for 2010!

Chosen by PPA Design Team Member Linda Callahan: Marlene Peters stole my heart with this clever 3-D creation in January of 2010.  Beautifully crafted from Designer Paper, ribbon and embellishments, this box contains a sweet little pop-up surprise!  A perfect way to say Be My Valentine!

Chosen by PPA Design Team Member Margaret Moody: My favorite card for February is Nelia Harper's card that was chosen as one of the winners for PPA30. This card is my favorite winner from February because it's simple, yet so elegant!  It's proof that you don't need a lot of supplies to make a beautiful card!

Chosen by PPA Design Team Member Ann Schach: I selected this adorable card by Karin Menghini.  With its textured background, this card has it all...buttons, a beautiful bow, and paper snipped grass!  Who could ask for anything more!  Congratulations, Karin, on being our Best Dressed Winner for March!

 

April-Vicki Burdick

 

 

Chosen by PPA Design Team Member Patti MacLeith: April Showers bring May flowers, but in this case, the early flowers from Vicki Burdick catch the prize! The challenge was simply "flowers" for PPA37 and I love how Vicki layered her flowers and used the soft and the bold colors to bring out their beauty. They are popped up like poppies in a spring field! The very feminine touches of ribbon, brads and her punch border sealed the deal on April's "Best Dressed!" Thank you for playing, Vicki!

Chosen by PPA Design Team Member Gina Shaw: I chose this card because I love the way Beth put the red, white, and blue colors, all of the stars and stripes (plus polka dots!), and her other elements and embellishments together to say Memorial Day. I especially love the way she used the Real Red 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (my absolute favorite) to create a bunting and placed it next to the music sheet. Her design, layout, stitching, and sentiment are absolutely perfect to me!

Chosen by PPA Design Team Member Mike Funke: Sometimes a creation just “jumps out” at me.  Not always sure why, but something about the card captures my attention.  Leanne Pugliese's winning creation for PPA Challenge 45 is one of those cards.  Her “fussy cut” focal point literally jumps off the card and her mix of patterns makes this card the perfect combination of beautiful design and minimal supplies. Gorgeous!

Chosen by PPA Design Team Member Carla Bazhenow: I chose Debbie Henderson's Card for July's Best Dressed List.  Her card was created for the PPA 51 Wedding Challenge.  I chose her card for all the richness in color and all the spectacular details.  I also love that she left so much white space in her card, it really makes all the work she put into it stand out.  To see Debbie's card and all the luscious details click here.

Chosen by PPA Design Team Member Carla Bazhenow: For August, I chose Nikki Bond's card.  She entered it in the PPA 55 Color Challenge.  Her card is beautifully enriched with a touch of black, which really stepped up her card.  I love how she used the Color Blocking and Embossing for the background and her colorful birdhouses add the perfect touch.  Congratulations Nikki.

Chosen by PPA Design Team Member Kalshelia Lloyd: It's very rare to get totally surprised for Halloween!! Debbie Henderson's step card blew me away. It took this holiday to another level in card making. Who knew those owls made the cutest little ghosts!!

Chosen by PPA Design Team Member Mary Fish: Designer Iwona Palamountain (Chupa) has proven throughout the year that she loves a PPA challenge and can create with perfection.  This card is an excellent example of her crisp and clever style (love the buttons).  The mix of deep pink, gray and orange come to life in a way you would never expect.  The striped ribbon mirrors the stripe on the flower pot.  Trés chic!

Chosen by PPA Design Team Member Debbie Pierce: One of the many reasons I love Martha Stewart's gorgeous basket is that it shows  there are no limits to creative possibilities.  Her use of fabric and chunky glitter is brilliant, and she created a fabulous basket that shows that paper crafting isn't just for card making anymore!!

Chosen by PPA Design Team Member Debbie Pierce: This card from Erica Beth Cerwin is a beautiful example of how stunning monochromatic creations can be.  The beauty is in its simplicity, and this card is one of my favorites.  Rhinestones and ribbons add just the right touch of oomph. (That's an official paper crafting term!!)

Pals Paper Arts Artist Pick - PPA74

PPA Design Team Profile: Debbie Pierce

Debbie has been using SU! products since 2002, and has been a demonstrator since 2009.  She loves how the products coordinate making the creative process much easier!  Levi the wonder kitty often assists her, holding her paper in place by sleeping on it, and walking through her ink pads to test the quality of the ink.  Her designs reflect the clean and simple look she prefers.  As our blogmaster she is also responsible for the weekly challenge post.  The Design Team sends her e-mails and photos all week.  Then it is up to Debbie (and Levi) to sort it all out and get that post up on time every Thursday morning!

It’s sketch challenge week at Pals Paper Arts!  Joining the Pals Paper Arts Design Team is Celebrity Guest Artist Maile Belles! An amazingly talented artist, Maile has had her work published many times.  She confesses to being as true stamper at heart and describes her style as Clean and Simple. Her style is also unique, fresh and often surprising!

Join Maile and the PPA Design Team as they showcase their styles using Margaret Moody’s sketch!

Maile’s Tip:  Don’t be afraid to display your own unique personality through your designs.

There's still time to show us YOUR Element of Style with this week's Pals Paper Arts CAS Elements of Style Challenge.  This week's PPA element is lace, but if don't have any lace, don't worry.  Click here for suggestions for lace substitutions, challenge details, and to upload your creation.  We're looking forward to seeing how you rock the Element of Style.

 

 

 

PPA73-CAS Elements of Style-Get Your Lace in Place!!

 

Whether it is simple tatting on a handkerchief or intricate work on a bridal veil, lace always adds charm and elegance to a design!  Pals Paper Arts Design Team challenges you to use lace on a clean and simple design this week.  An added touch of lace is an easy way to add a stylish effect!  

Tip:  No lace?  Try paper piercing or scalloped edging for a lacy look.

PPA72-Fashion Inspiration and Blog Candy

  

It's Blog Candy time at Pals Paper Arts.  Play this week's challenge for your chance to win. Blog Candy winner (US address only) will be chosen randomly from all linked participants and announced on Wednesday December 15th along with our Pals Paper Artist Pick.  This week's prize is a mystery!!

 

 Pals Paper Arts Inspiration Photo this week highlights a beautiful collection of winter whites!  Whether it is the holiday sparkle, the winter scenes or the fabric textures that inspire you, let the whites take center stage.  Find some time for yourself this busy season and create!  Don’t forget to make some hot chocolate – topped perhaps by Mellow Marshmallow or Frothy Cream or Crystal Spritzle – oh delicious winter whites!

Tip:  White can be tricky to photograph.  A contrasting piece of cardstock or designer paper placed behind your card can help.
